Getting Started
What is The Table?▾
The Table runs virtual table reads. Everyone joins by video, the script scrolls in sync as you read, and you can add scene music, ambient sound, and an AI narrator. It lets you hear your script performed before you shoot.
Do I need to install anything?▾
No. Cast join a table read in the browser through a join link — there’s nothing to download.
Is it free?▾
You can browse and join sessions you’re invited to for free. Creating a table read is a paid feature; AI features use Producers Credit.
Setting up
How do I create a table read?▾
Start a new table read, add a title, and paste or upload your script. Choose the features you want — AI narrator, scene audio — then create it and share the join link with your cast.
How do I invite my cast?▾
Open the session and share the Join Link. Your cast open it in their browser and join by video — no account gymnastics required.
Running a read
How does the synced script work?▾
The script scrolls in the center of the room and highlights the current line as you advance the read, so a remote cast always stays on the same line together.
Can I take notes during the read?▾
Yes. Add a note on any line as you read, and review your notes afterward — each note is tied to the exact line for easy follow-up.
Audio
What does the AI narrator do?▾
The AI narrator reads action lines, scene headings, and transitions aloud, which is great for solo reads or when a reader is missing.
Can I add music and ambient sound?▾
Yes. Add scene music and ambient beds to set the mood of a scene, with volume controls in the session.
Video
Do I need my own video service?▾
The Table works with embedded video and can use your own provider; the platform provides the AI, the synced script, and the reading experience.
